In Memory

Dennis Gartner

Dennis Gartner

Dennis attended college in the Bay Area. He also served in the US Army.

He married Pam, a registered nurse,  in 1974 and settled in Vacaville. Dennis was extremely family oriented enjoying wood working, bowling, fishing, camping and photography with them.

Initially, he was a Systems Tech for Pac Bell moving through the Bells,  At&T, and Lucent  until retirement.  2004 found Dennis and Pam in Reno where he took over maintaining communications and data for JA Nugget.

Pam tells us that Dennis was diagnosed with esophageal cancer in 2009. He had major surgery at UC Davis and seemed to be doing well post therapies. However, the cancer returned and Dennis died March 6, 2014.  He is survived by his wife of 39 years, Pam, a son, Timothy,  and 3 grandchildren all of whom he adored.

It was mutual.

From Dennis' widow, Pam Gartner:

Dennis was so looking forward to coming to your 50th reunion celebration. I remember him telling me all about it the day he found out some details/plans. All of it sounds wonderful.

I wish you all a great time; make many wonderful memories. And please, raise your glasses high, just once, in memory of my Dennis.

I know without a doubt, he'll be with you all in spirit.

Fondly,
Pam Gartner.

Dennis was an old childhood friend living just a stones throw from me on lower Wildwood when we were kids.

He lived next door to the Jones -, cousin there named Dick if I recall this correctly.

Dennis and I had many sleep overs as kids there on Wildwood, and latter he and his family moved to a place on Tressle Glen, and then later moved to upper Piedmont somewhere below Highland.

Somehow we lost touch with each other in later school years at PHS.

I remember most his unique laugh and being in Cub Scouts together. And certanly of him being a really great guy!

As his wife Pam had earlier included or suggested, ... please raise a glass to his memory at one or both of the two remaining reunion functions.

Warmest Regards,

Doug Rigney
